I'm glad to have found this web site although I don't know how much time I can spend here. Trying to keep our business afloat is taking time away from more fun stuff. My husband and I have a studio www.stretchstudio.com
in Portland, Maine
(east coast, not Oregon as everyone assumes) shooting mostly things-food, decor, shoes, etc. and sometimes people. We're in business survival mode as I know many many people are also. But with our new president, we're optimistic. We've been in business since 1984 and have been through ups and downs but never like this. The industry has changed in ways we never could have imagined.
I've been working as the Photoshop and post production person since 2002. (I put Digital Diva on my business card because I've never heard a satisfactory job title for what I do!) We had an employee who did that work but he got another job offer we couldn't match. I had an amateur background in photography, painting, and illustration as well as using computers for business management so I said, "I bet I can do this..." It's like I was waiting for a job to be invented to match my natural skill set. I can sit at a computer all day working in PS. I love it and I still have much to learn.
