i enjoy a wide range of music, but my favorite these days is neo-classical..the sound of classical music played with an electric guitar sounds quite nice:

Wow, impressive. His technique and execution are just amazing. He know his instrument quite well. He makes it look pretty easy. hehe...

very much so, but he didn't write that piece..that credit belongs to Yngwie Malmsteen, here is a clip of him playing with an orchestra:

Re: The RetouchPro Music Club

Okaaaay, second post here. Haven't made it out of Salon yet.

I'm a musician (guitar mostly) and also a composer. I've recorded a couple of CDs of music, most of which is kind of hard to classify. As for the sort of music I like to listen to, it varies. I find as I get older I have become somewhat less opinionated, although I would still rather have knitting needles pounded up my nose than listen to rap or hip-hop.

My all-time favorite musician/composer is JS Bach. Hands down, he's the best there ever was. Mozart is brilliant, Beethoven is awe-inspiring, but Bach is about as close to perfection as one can hope to attain, I feel.

I'm also a classical guitarist, so I have favorites within that realm as well: Rodrigo, Villa Lobos, Turina, Albeniz, and many more.

More contemporary, in the guitar world some of my other favorites are the mortal Jimi Hendrix, whose music isn't, Eric Clapton, and heck, I find it fun even to listen to Van Halen and his derivatives. And how about them Eagles, eh?

Yes, I also really like a lot of new age stuff. I'm also quite fond of smooth jazz, which has somehow picked up the pejorative label of "porn flick background music." Damned porn flick producers. I mean, who doesn't like David Sanborn? Mark Antoine? Russ Freeman? Peter White? Larry Carlton? Lee Ritenour, for pete's sake? Yeah, there's a lot of SJ that's become rather derivative (whoops, there's that word again, but it fits), but there's also a lot that's still fresh, some of it 20+ years and counting after it was recorded.

Hmm . . maybe it's time I dust off my digital-audio workstation and play around with some of the more recent tools out there. Problem is, I tend to get immersed and like not come up for air until a month later.

Re: The RetouchPro Music Club

I am not a musician and most of all not an aesthete. Regarding Hip hop, there is many people discarding it from their play list...I'm not a big fan of Hip Hop myself, mostly concerning some racist issues and gang related stuff, also because of the "macho" smell that surrounds the crews. BUT, there are also "cross-overs" and some talented musicians related to this genre...Here it is, a great underrated band: UDS (I'm here to protect the legacy of European music :-) ) I love the way the bass player plays, and also the guitar (the moniker of the guitar player is TRES MANOS; says a lot!)...

It's also a great live band, one of the best live band I saw, ever. Very sharing...
For example I saw once bands like Pixies or Nirvana and many others great American bands, and I must admit it's always very professional but there is a lack of this freshness (In fact they were very dull) you can find in European sets, where being a musician is rarely a reliable profession.

It's not a "new versus old world" argument, it's just my own experience.

Hey, this is the best harmonica player I've seen so far, and the 1st time I see playing Bach in it. Great player.

Amazing. I've seen some pretty difficult tunes played on a chromonica before, but this is the first time I've ever seen music of that level of difficulty played on one of the small "blues harps." Didn't know it had that many notes.
