Smile Newbee from Australia

My wife recommended i check out this site and i must say it contains a wealth of information
I have over 8000 35 mm slides mostly kodak kodachrome that belong to my father in law spanning some 40 years of his life he was a prolific shutter bug i have been scanning these slide for the last 2 years about half way through. luckily i am retired
i have a PrimeFilm PF1800 afl and found the software that came with the machine to be ok but had to use photoshop elements 2 to repair a lot of them things like lost color mold and a lot of other problems i have just purchased vuescan and have found it to be of good quality as it restores the color an improves the quality of the digital image before it saves it .I still have to use photoshop just to finish them of.
well thats it for now back to scanning

Re: Newbee from Australia

Sorry for the late welcome, but I've been traveling quite a bit lately. We certainly hope you enjoy RetouchPro and find it useful to your endeavors. There is a nice mix of talent here. We hope you will also join in and share your experience with others.

I know what you mean about the scanning, it does take quite a bit of time. I'm glad my dad always developed his, as rephotographing photographs is much easier than scanning in slides.

If you run across anything real interesting, you can always create a gallery here on RP and post a few.
