They are stuffed Jalapeno peppers. Usually with some kind of cheese, breaded and fried. When I worked at a KFC back in the 80's I used tom make them for myself and the crew as a snack using white meat from the chicken. Then I would dip them in batter and roll them in original recipe flour before frying them. That was long before they started showing up in restaurants. I often wonder if that was a missed opportunity.

I like the ones with cheddar cheese in them. But the ones with cream cheese seem to be more popular with the general public. Amazingly, there's this little restaurant in the little town (pop. 1200) about 12 mi. from here that make the best ones I've ever had.

I worked for KFC when I was young too, but I never thought to make them like that. Man, I bet those were some GOOD poppers!

They were pretty good. I worked there for 2 years. I became quite creative when I got tired of everything on the menu. I worked alot, often gaining enough hours that I got overtime on my check. I did all that while going through high school. Somehow I still managed to find time to party. I wish I had that energy now.

I know the feeling. I used to party then too. Man, that was a fun time! My crew and I had this one party once...

Oh, nevermind - that's another story altogether.

I got promoted to manager though, so when we all got bored with the menu stuff we traded chicken for PIZZA!

Well, I did a search on the web and got a Scoville listing of all the hot sauces. It's really interesting and I thought you guys would like to see it. Check it out

OMG, that reminds me... I was just in Tennessee over Memorial Day Weekend to visit relatives. My Uncle, who was in the Air Force for 20-30 years had flown back here from Calif. early to meet an old AF buddy in Georgia for a guy's reunion. And when he got to Tennessee for our family weekend, he had brought a big mason jar of MOONSHINE with him!

Oh, Man.... It was really neat. I hadn't tasted it before. But seeing as how I was actually born in Kentucky, I figured I had to taste it at least once in my life.

It was killer! When I was a wild kid, my beverage of choice was whiskey (Black Velvet or JD), and bourbon was all good too. But this Moonshine was something else... It was smooooooth! And it's too bad it wasn't winter, because it REALLY warmed me up!

I didn't even see that one.

Jak,
I've had moonshine. Well, a wee taste was all I needed. That stuff would rank right up there with some of the real hot stuff. The alcohol content of some of them can run around180 proof. Wicked stuff. Just sniffing the bottle would put me out.

Any of you folks with a taste for hot stuff familiar with Korean kimchi -- fermented vegetables, etc. sometimes with chili powder added. I do NOT eat hot or spicy foods, but my former sister-in-law from Korea had a permanently red throat from her daily portions of kimchi. Just wondering how it stacks up to your really hot sauces.

Also wondering how red your throats are... Except for Greg. (gotta hurt!)

I remember it from the MASH series but never had the pleasure (displeasure ??) of tasting the stuff. Is it really that hot? I didn't know that. Wonder if Jeanie has tried something similar since she goes to Vietnam so often? Curious.
