A Jpeg Viewer?

Hey folks.

So i have Windows XP running on both laptop and desktop.

I shoot with a Nikon D90, 12.3mp.

I shoot in RAW for work

I shoot in Jpeg for fun.

I shoot a lot more in JPEG than Raw. lol. Not everything NEEDS raw, especially pics of the kids, dogs, friends, etc.

The problem i have is the Windows Picture Viewer SUCKS. It takes FOREVER to rotate an image, zoom in and out, etc.

Does anyone reccommend an image viewer that operates the same way as Windows picture viewer but FASTER? Something that will pop open to view the JPEG that does not require running a program(ie adobe bridge)?

I dont want a file management system, editor, or anything like that, justa default program to open the Jpeg for viewing.

My friend has Vista on his laptop, the image viewer on that is blazing fast compared to the older XP Picture viewer, but im not willing to go with 64k, i pulled it off my laptop and replaced it with XP because i couldnt get many of my programs to work with Vista.

I want that speed for picture viewing. The 10 second lag to rotate an image 90 degrees just sucks.

And recs?

Laptop and Desktop are both Duel core 2.0Ghx z and above with 4 gigs of ram each. PC.

Not quite what you want but Picasa is an excellent file viewer and organizer.

Re: A Jpeg Viewer?

i think hewlett packard (HP) and kodak both have viewers. i have Easy Share from kodak and it's gallery system seems fairly decent. also, this subject is a very popular one with software and hardware manufacturers. i'm fairly certain that lots of them will have some sort of image viewing/gallery system. a google shld turn up lots of hits. you might also try sourceforge.net for open source programs/apps of this nature.
