Just installed Win7 64-bit

I have a lot of work ahead of me, so no renders tonight (maybe even a few days) for me until I get my system up and running again. I can say that my PC is nearly 3 times faster then before, but I don't have anything running either. lol

I am installing Windows 7 on my Vista Computer right now. I will probably put it on the XP Computer soon. Let us know how it goes. I bought the family pack for 3 pcs. It should be installed soon.

Don't forget to load it up with RAM. No reason to go 64bit, otherwise.

Re: Just installed Win7 64-bit

I plan on it Doug. I have 4 total slots (2G so far). I believe the slots can support 2G RAM so I will get 2 2G RAM sticks as well (have to keep my costs under control since I'm still a broke bloke). I replied to a thread below (included a screenshot).

Re: Just installed Win7 64-bit

Hello,
Any problems with the upgrade? I am waiting for my copy to get here. I am currently running Vista 64 with 8 g of ram, hoping that Win 7 adds more speed to the system.

Joe

Re: Just installed Win7 64-bit

I had no problems with the upgrade at all, but be prepared to spend some time doing it. I think it was between 2 and 3 hours.

Re: Just installed Win7 64-bit

I forgot to mention that windows mail is not included in windows 7, so you might have to get another email program unless you have an online mail. I already had an email program downloaded, but I didn't remember the password so I had to make a phone call get a password,( the password they gave me) then change it to the password that I set for it.(password that only I know)

HroadhogD1,

Thanks for your reply. I kind of expected it to be time consuming.

Thanks again,

Joe

Re: Just installed Win7 64-bit

There is a difference when going from xp to windows 7 and vista to windows 7. Windows 7 is just and upgrade. Going form xp, you will have to do a custom install (more or less a clean install) and then put all of your programs and printers on by hand. (get out those CDs). It will take longer.
