Haven't had snow here in Middle Alabama in over 2 years and it's rare that it actually sticks. Click link below for a photo that I shot about half an hour ago. I told the birds to thank Al for their predicament. lol

Re: It be snowing in MA (middle Alabama).

I thought about it, but my lazy self said the snow's too wet. lol

Your not going to believe it, but it's still snowing pretty consistent (looks like around 2 inches of accummulation). Still 34ºF so it's hard to believe you can have so much snow and have it be so warm. The birds are going stircrazy outside too. When I opened the front door (just a few minutes ago), all I heard was bird chirping. The feeders pretty much full so they aren't starving, but still. Fly South; it's Winter don't you know. lol

Re: It be snowing in MA (middle Alabama).

Nah; it finally stopped yesterday early evening and today, it's pretty much gone. My Dad and I did drive around and I did take a few Snowman pics around the neighborhood. He also made me make a snowman with some left over snow afterall (found orange and blue bag ties which, of course are AU colors; Warrr Eagleee; didn't find a hat, so just took a cobblestone and placed it on top) . lol

This was just down the street from me

http://www.kansascity.com/934/galler...748399-t3.html

PLUS almost the same situation in four other pile-ups close by, and we are accustomed to driving in snow!

P.S
Me thinks that is the smallest snowman I have ever seen!! Nice work!!

Re: It be snowing in MA (middle Alabama).

It's a shame that there still are idiots who think that they can drive in the snow OB; I was one of them a few years back when I lived in the Atlanta, GA area. Fortunately, when I skidded, I did not hit another object or car; took a few minutes to get traction and continue (I definitely was an idiot) to my destination (should of went straight back home). Luckily, for me, no other incident happened. I still remind myself of that incident whenever I think I need to drive in the snow (haven't since; fortunately we just don't get that much snow where I live in Alabama).

Re: It be snowing in MA (middle Alabama).

nice pics, lyle

we've had more snow this year than the last 10 combined here in western ky. i grew up in michigan and learned to drive there so what we get here in ky. is usually a joke. but, and this always cracks me up, they close everything here in ky. if they get so much as a flurry. in mich, as kids, we would stand outside and pray to the snow gods to give us tons so we didnt have to go to school. those damn bus drivers could drive in blizzards and a foot of snow on the ground was nothing. lol. we had very few snow days back then

what was the most fun, though, in mich, was taking your car out on a lake and driving on ice. now that was fun!

That fourth picture is horrifying.

Yup, it's the same with me. Grew up in Indiana where they were prepared for and used to heavy snow. In Holland everybody just stays home when it snows because it melts immediately. Of course this year DH got to introduce DS to turning 'doughnuts' ...

Re: It be snowing in MA (middle Alabama).

you are so thoughtful Craig
hasn't been as much as what we feared and the sun is out today so it is melting already

As Nasturtium is off enjoying the snow skiing
I think that DH = darling husband and DS=darling son

Re: It be snowing in MA (middle Alabama).

Up here in The Great White North we are having the warmest winter in history. Maybe a foot of snow all winter in Sudbury. Most of it's gone. Snow in the southern states and none here. We've had 10 years of this strange weather. Global warming is for real. Pretty soon you'll be getting your oranges from Canada and Florida will be buying snow plows. Weird stuff.

Re: It be snowing in MA (middle Alabama).

We have wild turkeys here now. There's never been wild turkeys here ever. Never. It's to cold in the winter. They were reintroduced into Southern Ontario with birds generously donated by the U.S about 20 years ago. It was a pilot project. All the animals are moving north and not only surviving but reproducing and adapting. We even have cougars here now. This is something even my grandfather never got to see.

Sorry; haven't kept up with the thread like I should. At least you used a carrot Palms. lol

To Joe; now sure how Global Warming comes to play. Maybe a better theory is the earth is shifting and your are going back South as we get tilted further North. lol
