setting up a retouching house in Shanghai/China

Hi,
I'm Lorenz, 33, live in China since 7 years and started and manage a
Shanghai photo studio called Rimagine (www.rimagine.com). We are about to launch a creative retouching house, targeting primarely ad agencies. So far we have this: www.rimagine.com/our-service/retouching . What did other retouchpro users do to successfully launch their own retouching house? Mailings? eNewsletters? Gosees with Printed portfolios?

There are two other established retouching houses in Shanghai, but they don't market themselves very much (only one has a website, the other one doesn't).

I understand where you are coming from, but this time you are unfortunately wrong.. ;-) No, honestly, here's the issue: We are by now quite well established in the photography market (in Shanghai) and so far are known that we can also do a good job when talking about basic touch-ups and simple compositions.

However, we realized that our 4 retouchers are capable to do a lot more higher-end retouching work, therefore we currently build up a creative retouching portfolio. The issue is now how to inform the market about it? We already know many of the top agencies and I'd love to hear from other studio owners what worked for them!

Hello, I am a retoucher working for a retouching firm in London.
I've looked your website.
According to your website, I think your company is attractive as a post production of still life company, but not a retouching house.
Are you looking for opportunities in China or from rest of world( especially from developed countries)?
Your strategy would depend on your target audiences.

By the way, I am interested in the retouching industry in China, especially in Shanghai. Could you tell me the name of your competitors? I've found two hi-end creative retouching firms but they are more like a group of freelancers rather than a "company".

Hi Eneloop.
Apologies, after this annoying post from TopiToo I haven't checked back in here for a while. The other two retouching houses are indeed more a group of freelancers, however, there is one, which is called FranklinPeppermint (www.fpm.cn). The guy who runs it is a very experienced retoucher, also a super nice guy and very professional. Have you found more in the meantime?
By the way, we already landed some really good retouching jobs from good ad agencies, however, most of them are post-production jobs of the jobs we shoot ourselves..
