I do "Carry" and Fortunately I haven't had to use it but one never knows..
But I am out there doing more than just photo work at times

Hello guys,

Thank you all for your concern and well wishes. I am recovering but it will take a few weeks before I'm back up to speed. I'm still taking physical therapy three times a week.
I'm having to go to a neurologist because I'm having a ringing in my ears that is driving me nuts.

As for carrying a gun. I've been doing this for 10 years and have met hundreds and hundreds of people and have had no problems with any of them. So I've decided not to carry a gun. It was a surprise attack so if I had my gun they would've gotten it too.The main thing that bothers me is the loss of my camera gear. Here in Florida this is my season for birds and flowers. several people have e-mailed me and asked me about my homeowners insurance. We have placed the claim. But our main concern is that the door to the car was unlocked at the time my gear was stolen. The detective said that should not matter since I was only a few hundred feet from the car and that I was assaulted at the time.

you're probably right about the gun. i was speaking more figuratively than anything else... or kneejerk if you wish. makes my blood boil when something like this happens. let's hope the insurance adjuster is one of the good ones

I used to go almost anywhere and just "shoot" pictures. I have been in some of the back streets of places like Panama City, Panama. Lapaz , Saigon, Lima, Even while serving in Viet Nam I took my military hat off and done some news photography -armed only with a couple of 35mm cameras, And never was really scared, cautious but not scared. But now I get antsy as there are nuts out there that want money for drugs and will do anything to get it. I just want the playing field to be a little more even.
