How do you manage your photos?

Hi everyone,

I recently purchased an iMac 27" and have moved all my files over to it from my PC. Firstly, I love mac, which I bought one sooner.

My question is, how do you guys manage your photos? I know iPhoto is supposed to be pretty good but I hear it doesn't read RAW? I previously used bridge to manage my files and create my own folders.

Note: Backing up is not an issue, I have a drive with time machine setup.

Now that I have a mac I want to improve on the way I manage my photos and folders.

At present I have Lightroom 3, PS CS5, Bridge CS5 and iPhoto on my mac. Which program should I use to manage everything? Should I use a combination of these programs? Tell me how you do it?

I'm very keen to utilise the best workflow possible.

Josh.

Re: How do you manage your photos?

Hi jeljones: In my case I created a division (compared to Documents) where I put all my pictures and art stuff. I also have Aperture which is nice, but I don't use it that much thou... You have Ps and Bridge, you can configure Ps to work along with Camera Raw. I don't know Lightroom, but I believe you can also configure it to work along with Ps, Camera Raw and Bridge since all these are Adobe products. Besides you have Preview where you can make conversions from jpeg to RAW etc. I use iPhoto mainly to put all my desktop wallpapers. Hope this helps.

Thanks for that, that post helps. I'm not really familiar with the whole"ilife" thing just yet so I might just stick with what I know.

I'll spend some time sorting everything out through Lightroom.
