Actually, getting a pet for Christmas
can be a good idea - if the family has been planning for it carefully. We don't want folks running out at the last minute and picking a pet 'cause they couldn't think of anything else, but there's no better gift than the gift of Love, and dogs/cats have plenty of Love to share!

Lyle, the shelters/pounds are filled with cats also (they have a higher kill % even than the dogs nationally, very sad to say). I'm with you on hoping for a "mass of interest". There are enough people out there each year getting a new pet to adopt all of the homeless ones in shelters - they just need to shop at the shelters instead of the pet stores (where the poor little puppy mill babies
are placed while their mamas work at making another litter after litter after litter).
