Christmas 2010 photo - show off your favorite shot

Now that Christmas day is behind us, it's time to assess all those photos you took and I'll bet you have one or two favorites. So here's where to post them.

Anything goes...

It doesn't have to be "perfect" or museum quality... just something you like. Could be inside, outside, kids, relatives, ornaments, toys, animals, food, snow, closeup, family, individuals, whatever you like.

Even outtakes / mistakes are fine. Sometimes an "almost got it" pic can be your favorite

NO CRITIQUES or commentary on technique, content, framing, lighting, etc. (unless requested). Comments of appreciation are most welcome.

The purpose is fun.

1 or 2 photos - not the whole day!

Add a little commentary or description if you like.

Re: Christmas 2010 photo - show off your favorite

Okay, here's mine.

I was the first one awake and had came downstairs to turn up the heat and make coffee. It was about 6 a.m. and very dark inside and out.

After switching on the tree lights I decided to take a couple photos of our tree, wrapped gifts and holiday decorated family room "before the unwrapping carnage began." So I setup the tripod, mounted the camera and began taking a few test shots.

In the mean time our two cats, "Grateful" and "Boo" [don't ask... it far too long a story] decided it was time to eat (again) and had come downstairs for breakfast. Then it was time to resume in one of their favorite sports, "Let's chase each other among the gifts under the tree."

At first I was a little annoyed at their typical antics. Because I was shooting time exposures (1-3 seconds) due to the limited light, I didn't want "blurred streaks of unknown origin" in the photos. Then something amazing happened.

They both took turns "not moving" for a few seconds -- waiting patiently for each other to emerge from under the tree so the chase could continue. I lucked out and grabbed a couple pix that turned out to be my favs for the day.

Cool, Danny! I know how cats love to be in the middle of whatever we're doing (unless we're TRYing to photograph them) - maybe they figured out that they would look SO GOOD surrounded by Christmas lights. Good catch!

Precious shot, P... I can see why it was your favorite.

Took a similar one (my runner up photo) of my 12-year old son napping after what was apparently an exhausting (?) morning of unwrapping gifts. There's something special about sleeping children, regardless of their ages.

Thank you. It was a great RAW capture to start with so I just did selective sharpening/desaturation and a bit of dodge and burn.
