Hello all

I have reestablished my connection to photography in the last couple of years after a 2 decade period of inactivity, and now of course digital technology is the norm. I started out with Elements 6 then moved to Lightroom and now have started using CS5 for what I can't do in LR. I found this group through my interest in Perceptool. I did a workshop with George DeWolfe in July and got introduced to it there. At this point I have reverted to black and white because I feel I understand it better from my prior photographic experience and it seems more manageable in terms of the technical issues. However I feel like I have more than enough to learn even with the gray scale medium. Looking forward to advancing my skills with this connection.

Re: new member

Welcome, Roy:

I took a similar path as you... film for many years, then lept into digital -- kicking and screaming at first, but cannot imagine 'going back' now.

I am returning to my black and white roots myself. Although the concepts are the same (contrast, texture, tone, etc.), digital tools enable a lot more flexibility, creativity and error recovery than historical methods -- plus no chemicals and darkroom requirements!

Have fun as you rediscover your passion.
