Re: noobie here

Welcome to RP...

The good news: Newspaper text is less difficult to restore than photos.

The degree of challenge faced in restoring images is a function of how "bad" they look to begin with and ones background/skill set in doing recovery. For example low damage + high skill = higher likelihood of success in a relatively shorter period of time than highly damaged + just a rookie at doing restoration. So be patient and keep your expectations reasonable.

In your questions/requests for assistance be sure to specify what editing program will you be using. Advice will depend on the tool(s) you are using. Also, don't be offended if you ask what seems like a simple question and someone refers you to a book, Internet tutorial or some other learning resource. With rare exception, just about all rookie questions/issues have been addressed here and elsewhere. In some cases it just makes sense time/effort-wise to point someone in the right direction vs. retyping a detailed, multi-step reply, okay? If you get stuck or don't understand a specific step or technique, don't hesitate to start a new thread to ask questions.

Good luck on your project and have fun while you're learning the ropes.
