I'm considering taking the A.C.E. exams in Photoshop and Illustrator. If that goes well, I'm also thinking about taking it further and going for an Adobe Certified Specialist accreditation in print. I've done a small amount of research on the Adobe site, including trying out a few previous questions from the Photoshop exams.
My research has bought up a few questions;
1) Have any of you guys got an A.C.E?
2) Do you think that it's led to you getting any extra work?
3) How long did you have to study before the exam?
My background is in large format digital print, and for the last couple of years I've gained a huge amount of knowledge from forums like this one which has led to a general improvement in the quality of the images that I'm printing, much to my customers' and boss' pleasure. I'm currently considering taking on pre-press work for others during my own time, with the ultimate goal being to work for myself from home, and was wondering if anybody here thought that an A.C.E. would help me with that.
One of the problems that I'm coming across, is that even though I don't consider my skill set to be particularly advanced, the majority of courses that I can find seem to cover stuff that I don't think is relevant to what I'm doing, or I already know it (mostly down to the excellent sharing of knowledge on sites like this one).
Are there any other Industry Standard qualifications that might help me?
