The passing of more than just time

I have just reread the post put on in 2002 and now we are down to just one of our pets and that is Towser the staffy and he is an old man of 14 now .Thats 91 in our years. Allie cat got cancer in her jaw a couple of years ago and then not too long after that Zeppy got to be so infirm thta she was falling over so we had to have her put to sleep also, very sad but a necessary and a dignified exit for them both. still miss them.

Keep the dogs coming! Here's our latest, and she's 19 months old now. We have some real good looking animals on the site.

I think the hardest part of living with dogs/cats is knowing that usually they will leave us I still have 2 dogs (same two but much older) and 3 cats -- but only one of the cats was with me when I first posted. Ginger lived to 20 yr. and Cupcakes to 17; they also had a dignified exit. Toffee and Pepper have joined Sunny to outnumber the dogs (even though it only takes one of them to make the dogs back off).

That's for sure! I'm reminded of something I saved on the hard drive. Not sure where I initially found it, but it was worth keeping. Here it is:

There is a bridge connecting Heaven and Earth. It is called the Rainbow Bridge because of its many colors.

When a beloved pet dies, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.

There are meadows and hills with lush green grass for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.

The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing ... they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers.

Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again.

The happy kisses rain upon your face. Your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

You then cross Rainbow Bridge together .....

You're welcome Janet. If anyone can read that without feeling emotions, they have no business owning animals!

The Rainbow Bridge -- animated FLASH version

Yes, Ed, "Rainbow Bridge" is a special poem that pictures how I'd like things to be for my companion animals.

For those lucky enough to be able to handle animated Flash on their computers, this version of the Rainbow Bridge is especially lovely...

Had quite a lump in my throat reading that and watching the flash.

Ed, I bet your dog has lots of fun moving around on that polished floor. She's a beauty.
