Animated Gifs

I was showing my 7 year old grandson how to make an animated gif last night - and long after he went home, I sat here and made an animation of a flower growing from a seed........OK there was nothing to watch on tv and I was bored

I have no artistic talent, but I was proud of my efforts and wanted to show it off so I tried emailing the gif to myself to see if it would work. It didn't. All I got was either the first frame or the last (don't remember which)

Now my question. I DO get some animated gifs in email that do work (are animated) so is there some magic that I should do to my gif to make it work in email? Is there more than one kind of animated file?

I can see you all firing up PS to see what I'm talking about LOL

Here's the feeble effort that took me an evening to create:

Take care, Margaret

Fun eh ?

I like making animations also...

I think the only problem was that it wasn't set to "forever" (loop)... you will find that setting in the lower left corner of the long horizontal window containing the frames...

hope that helps... it should e-mail fine now.

Hi Ron, thanks for the info. It's the strangest thing. My Sis went to the web page and copied the gif and then emailed it to me and it work (without me changing anything) but when I email it to myself, it doesn't work. I'm thinking it's something in my email app (Mac OS10.3.3 Mail app)

It was fun and I have lots more ideas - if I only had some talent LOL

Take care, Margaret

good

I first started making animations with paintshop pro's animation shop.. I may have missed the layers thing then... i used to make all the frames ... name them from A - Z then save them in a folder for PSP.. I like the layers better for sure...
anyhow... here is the first elaborate one I did..... well this is a small copy anyway.. large file for the bigger one.
hope you like the beatles
