Gadaffi is stronger than most people realise. He tried to hijack the new form of the OAU a couple of months back, but Mbeki has more support. Gadaffi's funding of "projects" in Africa have earned him lots of friends. He's even managed to get influential people like Mandela to speak on his behalf.

I heard on the radio news this morning that five farmers have left their farms voluntarily after visits by heavily armed police yesterday.

suppose many people still see him as a hero and anything he says must be right
Of course, he's given them land, and now they're going to get free food too...

Well, thank goodness for that and not before time. That'll keep those pesky northern Sassanach types from despoiling this beautiful country.

An uncalled for slight I can only quote from The Scottish Play

What are these,
So withered, and so wild in their attire,
That look not like th’inhabitants o’th’earth,
And yet are on’t? Live you? Or are you aught
That man may question? You seem to understand me,
By each at once her choppy finger laying
Upon her skinny lips: you should be women,
And yet your beards forbid me to interpret
That you are so.

I'll be entering Scotland tomorrow to attend the Comedy Fringe and to partake (reluctantly) in the pasta fest ! Best wishes to all, assuming I dont get crushed/scalded to death with a cauldron of spagetti I'll be back from our northern colony on Monday.

Cheers

The wheels are really coming off now. I heard on the radio news that 147 white farmers have been arrested since Friday, for defying mad bob's deadline. Some of these arrests seem to be in the vicinity of Harare, so it's getting close to home for Sam

In Africa, the cornerstone of capitalism, property rights and ownership, are meaningless drivel (unless, of course, you're in power).

CBS's 60 Minutes did a rehash show on the country tonite, at least they covered it. I wish someone would do something. On Castro and Cuba, they had his daughter, who lives here on, and it was plain from what she said that she doesn't like dad to much. Dictators just don't get it.
