ABR Brush viewer

I came across this today. It might be handy to those who keep a lot of brushes around. Curious that it can't see "caligraphic" brushes, whatever that means.

Very interesting. Too bad it requires Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 (which I don't have installed.)

I hope someone who does have .NET gives this a go and reports back.

re: caligraphic brushes...
Used for caligraphy-type strokes?

ABR Viewer

Gave it a whirl - I think it could be very useful. Attached is a screen dump.

Does not retain directory selection and colour scheme between sessions.

Locked up when trying to display one file and had to close it and re-open.

Main display adds thumbnails of each brush in the set. Adding another brush set adds to the display, but each set can be closed separately or close all to start again.

Thumbnail size and colours can be changed.

Double clicking thumbnail opens new window showing original size - clicking in this window opens another where you can try the brush.

cant test this one. paint shop pro uses '.jbr' for their brush extensions. i've always wondered if an .abr couldnt just have the extension changed to .jbr and have it work. it would certainly give me access to a lot more brushes if it could.

Craig,

I haven't tried it recently but you certainly used to be able to rename a JBR to ABR and use it in photoshop so I would think that the other way should work as well - I believe you can also import them into Painter.

didnt work. i tried just changing the extension of an .abr to a .jbr. psp never saw it well enough to load it into the brushes list and when i quit out of psp i got several error messages and a crash.

ah well, it was worth a shot.
