Trying to put a photo through Neat Image. After clicking on Auto Profile, I am getting the message..Can not automatically find uniform area?? Can someone familiar with this program tell me what this means please. It is the easy download not the full program.I changed the levels before taking it to Neat Image. Neb

Neat Image works best when you have a similar tonal area. If your image is small, then your sample area "may" include non contrast areas along with contrast areas. Neat Image does not like this. Think about a single tonal background. But the recommended sample area includes the person (different tonal and contrast areas). This tends to "freak out" Neat Image IMO.

You can bypass that message and go right to Noise Filter settings. Load a preset, which you can then tweak for your image.

IIRC this is what it means:
It looks for a square of a particular size that is just 'noise' for analysis, it will first try to do it automatically, however you can choose your own square - just click and draw and it will analyse the noise in that section and create its best attempt at the right settings.
If you have a lot of images with a similar distribution of noise find the one with the largest 'blank' area of noise and create a preset using those settings, then in images with no blank areas, load that preset.

Thank you Nancy: I was able to create a square but am afraid I do not understand how to then create or save it as the profile. Do I need to do something after creating the square? Neb
