| | Yes, what Phyllis says!
I am not a painter, but apps such as Studio Artist help me turn my photos into great artwork.
See some samples from Studio Artist in issue #12 of my ezine at this address: http://www.plugsnpixels.com/canvangelist/ezine.html
Issue #5 of my other ezine (Plugs 'N Pixels) will include examples from the new Studio Artist 3.5, which is on its way. |

| | | I ahve been usig SA mainly to do things with color I cannot do in Photoshop.
This is a very powerful program. My criticism is that if you are not a painter or high powered computer-graphaics person, the language and vocabulary used is intimidating and brand new--a very large learning curve.
One thing I have been impressed by is the interst they have in helping it's users. I recently posted my frustrations on their forum and was responded to directly by the writers of the software. They added a bunch of stuff to their program and sent me the updated version of their new version 3.5 to use. These addition were a response to my specific needs--now that's a responsive software maker.
I am impressed with the power and just need keep on trucking with this excellent package.

| | | SA painings I just viewed you work created in SA--very nice.
I have been struggling with trying to retain a lot of detail in my images but find that most of the presets in the program remove too much. You seem to have controlled nicely the loss of detail. Can you share some your technique of saving the detail. Check out my website where you can see my style and the effect I am trying to achieve. www.mdiimaging.com

| | One way to get back detail is to take the SA painting into Photoshop, open, then copy/paste the original image(before painting) on top of painting. Change blend mode to overlay or soft, add mask and paint on mask what you want in/out.
This gallery of mine might be helpful. http://www.pbase.com/ob/studio_artist

| | | Thanks for the tips.
I should have stated that my question were for Phyllis Stewart, but now that I see your work as well, thanks.
I found the SA forum on this site where a lot of presets and settings are referred to by yourself and phyllis but cannot find them--dow do I see these?

I was referring to the SA forum Innographx.
For some reason it is not accepting my log info today.

| | | You will need to ask questions of Phyllis at Innographx. If you have not posted at the Inn in a while you MIGHT need to reregister. Not sure. |

| | Danny, sorry I missed replying to your post above (I don't believe I set email notification properly)...
I haven't heard anything specific about a Windows version except that it's in the works.
In the meantime, you may wish to look at PD Pro Digital Painter, a similar Windows-only art app coded by a professional animator. I've got both Studio Artist and PD Pro (as well as other natural media apps) covered in the new issue 5 of my ezine, which I released last evening. |
