drawing a line

Sorry for the really dumb question, bur I cannor remember how to draw a straight line or a box with Photoshop Elements or CS. My mind is blank. Help.

With Photoshop 7 I use the square marquee tool... Make a new layer, select your line shape and fill with black. Perhaps this is the "caveman" way, but it works for me. I then use the "free transform" option to edit the lines dimentions.

Select a brush or pencil, click where you want to start, hold down the shift key and click where you want to end. Use show rulers and drag out grid lines to follow if you need them..skip
