| | | batch processing - help! I have a few hundred images that I want to reduce the size of, and save as .jpgs. I made an action from an opened file that flattens the file, reduces the size, saves it to a folder, as .jpg and closes the file. The action works without fault. The original files are various formats, various sizes, and some with multiple layers, while others are already flattened. I want Photoshop to access the images from a folder, and run the action.
I read Danny's tutorial, but I'm certain I missed something. Attached is a screenshot of what I did, but something's wrong because it keeps telling me I need to enter a filename for saving. I don't want to change the filenames, but the extensions need to be .jpg. What did I do wrong?

Ed | So, what was the problem / how did you fix it? (The Batch dialog settings look OK.) |

I don't know why it wouldn't work the other way, but it wouldn't let me run the action until I entered something in the boxes. I'm running Photoshop 7.
FWIW, I could swear I ran it that way on another computer, and it worked (kind of). But it didn't save the files. The good thing is that I didn't have the "close" command written into that action. I had to save them manually, but luckily I didn't have too many processed.
