| Free Jpeg Artifact Fixer Jpeg artifacts are sort of a unique problem. The blocks, fringing, and other problems don't usually respond well to the standard noise removal filters. So people write jpeg fixer tools, with varying degrees of success. I recently tested a new one from Topaz Labs called Topaz DeJPEG. This tool is much better than anything else I've tried, and it is free. http://www.topazlabs.com/index.html They have some other tools there. I've been test driving their Topaz Vivacity, which includes several plugins for denoiseing, jpeg enhancement, enlarging, and sharpening. And of interest to photo-art folks, you can overboost some of the controls to create the foundation for some art effects. |
