Software - - IE and a GIF

I hope this is the right place to post this question.

My daughter designed a (GIF) animated banner ad for a site where she is advertising her puppies for sale. When viewing it in IE the font is broken up and fuzzy. It looks fine in Mozilla Firefox and Opera. This saved her $85.00 by designing it herself. She uses psp8. She had to design it at 120x120 pixles I believe and could have up to 4 frames. She did 3.

Does anyone know why this might be happening in IE ? We took it back to animation shop and all frames are perfect and working right. She paid for this ad to have space on this site and is disappointed in the way it is working. The people who run the site are great and are trying to help her and will be looking into it today , but thought I would ask here just to see if there are any computer wise people around who might know why this is happening. All the other banners on the site are fine? Thanks Neb

Check under IE Advanced Options to make sure you have Smart Dithering and Automatic Resizing turned off.

Hi Doug: For some reason I thought you might know something about this.

I just did as you suggested and went to the site and right now it seems to be doing the same thing. What did those deselections accomplish? If that did not work should I go and recheck them?? Thanks Neb

like doug, i would say it's something in the options. what, i dont know, but if you post the link to the actual site, we could take a look ourselves and see if we're seeing the same thing in i.e. that might help narrow the problem down.

Is the text placed on a web safe color? If not, this might be the problem.

Doug: I meant to say what were the new settings suppose to do?? The first way sounded not polite. Will everyone who views in IE have to set these settings this way?? Thansk Neb

Petey...Well the first two frames seem ok but the third does not . not sure they were puton a web safe color . Do not know what that is. Will check it out and Thanks for the information.

5 years is a long time in the world of the web, even Lynda Weinman admits there is no need for the websafe palette anymore. Less than 1% of web users have 8bit graphics.

The issue could be the way the image is saved or more likely, your internet explorer options, but without seeing the actual image then its hard to say.
