It's some kind of color "tweening" used in Flash animation. I don't do Flash, so I can't be more specific, but I would imagine it would be used to effect colors in a scene that goes from light to shadow without having to actually recolorize the cels.

welcome to RetouchPRO!!

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:

In mathematics, a matrix (plural matrices) is a rectangular table of numbers or, more generally, a table consisting of abstract quantities that can be added and multiplied. Matrices are used to describe linear equations, keep track of the coefficients of linear transformations and to record data that depend on two parameters. Matrices can be added, multiplied, and decomposed in various ways, marking them as a key concept in linear algebra and matrix theory.
From Adobe:

Along with understanding matrix dimensions, it is important to understand that each value in a matrix is used to store a piece of data that can be used in a calculation...
so, I guess, a colour matrix is a table containing colours .... which colours? ... I guess they could come from the RGB, CMYK, Web Safe, etc. colour ranges ... I also read that cameras have their own colour matrices so,
