Re: Free XP add-on downloads

Managed to totally screw up my display using TweakUI to customise something fairly minor (long time ago now and I can't remember what it was, only that it took me about 2 hours of work to rectify it), so I treat the power toys with a touch of cauition.

Must agree, TweakUI can cause problems. It is for advanced users, who don't mind having the odd issue or 2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9
Also note that some XP add-ons require .net framework 2.0 . This is better installed via windows updates, by selecting custom updates from the Windows update site menu

Re: Free XP add-on downloads

Just curious...

Since we are talking about XP add-ons, and Ms has a "ClearType Tuner",
has any of you seen much difference between "ClearType" aliasing and standard smoothing?

Ms claims this is how different it could be:

Re: Free XP add-on downloads

Well I never bothered with it before, but just tried it. Using the Wizard, I set it up for the cearest possible settings. All it did was make my fonts look 3D, with a blue/geen shaddow around all fonts. So I just switched it off I'm happy with how it looked before

Re: Free XP add-on downloads

It was on a Samsung A10 Laptop Tried it on an old LCD monitor (on work box), and it did clear it up a bit, but not a vast amount.
