Re: Discussion thread -- Photoshop CS3 Beta

On WinXP 64-bit edition or Vista 64-bit, Photoshop CS3 can use up to 4GB of memory.

And color temp for a TIF is just a color adjustment. However, Camera Raw 4 (ships with CS3) will adjust TIFs if you prefer that interface.

For files over 2gb (or over 30,000px in either dimension), use PSB format.

Re: Discussion thread -- Photoshop CS3 Beta

I've been following the posts of others regarding CS3 and I'm gonna wait for the final release. I want to make sure that my fhird party filters and utilities will be compatible or upgradeable and I also don't have the time right now to "play guinea pig".

It does look promising though.

I think you can download the Beta and try it out. It will have a time limit unless you have CS2. The CS2 users may continue to use the beta until the final release by registering with Adobe.

Re: Discussion thread -- Photoshop CS3 Beta

Diane, Swampy is right. I still have Photoshop 7, but I downloaded the beta of CS3 and was able to use it for 2 days -- long enough to sell me on buying it when it is released. I only have 512megs of RAM on a Pentium 4 PC, and it ran as well or better than my PS 7. So if you have disk space for the download, a fast internet connection, I think it's worth trying out yourself. Whether you do or don't, take a look at the video links posted in the CS3 threads -- you can learn a lot about the changes in the program from them.

Re: Discussion thread -- Photoshop CS3 Beta

http://news.com.com/2061-10792_3-6160717.html

Excerpt:

Adobe likely will announce its Creative Suite 3 (CS3) products on or about March 27," Merrill Lynch analyst Jay Vleeschhouwer predicted last week, with the products themselves to ship "several weeks thereafter."

...

Core CS3 products include Adobe's flagship Photoshop software for image editing, Illustrator for vector graphics and InDesign for page layout, but not products such as Premier for video editing. Adobe has let CS2 customers try Photoshop CS3 beta. Vleeschhouwer, however, expects CS3 components to be offered in a variety of configurations: 14 individual products and about six different suites.
