| | Extraction software from UK? Hey guys,
About a year ago I got an e-mail about a new photo extraction software that was about $200. Can't remember the name of it or the site to find it!
Anyone know what it might be?

| | | Re: Extraction software from UK? I've tried it..found it very complicated for even the most basic extraction, sure it works great on some images..but so does everthing else, but at the end of the day I was unconvinced...You spend a lot of time cleaning images it isn't the definative answer to extractions...
Have you tried it? Give it a try they have a free trial period..you might love it.

| | | Re: Extraction software from UK? I haven't tried it at all. I use Photoshop now but I thought Fluid Mask might work better and faster. Coming up in the next two months I will have about 60 photos or more to extract for my 2nd book. Each extraction now takes me 30 minutes to do it well. |

| | | Re: Extraction software from UK? loverly,
fluid mask has a pretty steep learning curve. i tried the 30 day trial also and it didnt take me long that i'd need a 365 day trial if i was really going to buy figure the thing out.
there are a number of extraction type programs that have been discussed or mentioned here on RP. you might do a search in the retouching forum or the compositing forum.
there are also some great helps on things like the 'background eraser' tool, which psp and ps both have. bart hickman had some very useful info on using those... i think that was in the compositing forum. but, you could also search his name and find it.
and ps and psp both have other tools that can be used for extractions. have a look through the compositing forum. that's where we're putting all these these days.
and by the way, welcome home. havent seen you around in a while |

| | | Re: Extraction software from UK? Hi Craig,
Thanks for the welcome back! Glad someone noticed I was missing for awhile! lol
Moved to a different state during that time, wrote a children's book, and started taekwondo with my hubby and kids! ( two belts from black btw and broke my first board last month at nearly 40!! )
Thanks for the info! I really do appreciate the input since I am on a time crunch to get this second book done before my son is a giant. My kids are in the book and my son is 5'4.75" at age 11 with a mens size 11.5 shoe! He was 5'1" in May!
I used Photoshop to extract the photos for the first book, but I'm not always happy with how hair comes out, and thought when I saw the Fluid Mask prog that it might be better and faster. Not happy to hear the learning curve was difficult. That isn't good news for a blonde! LOL
You are probably right about doing a search here on the site. Thanks for the advice!
Merry Christmas!

| | | Re: Extraction software from UK? well, as a long time, professional (and harmless) flirt, i always miss the girls when they're absent
you wrote your book! very cool! do we get to see a sample?
and in all fairness to fluid mask, it's probably much easier than the impression i gave. i really only tried it long enough to realize it was going to take more time to learn than i wanted to devote to it at that time. in other words, i know almost nothing about the program |

About the book....
We (me, my investor, and my marking guy) will be self publishing next year sometime. I'm starting a publishing company in India with a sister cmpany here. After all that is settled then the book can be printed. My site has been started but my web designer team is owned by my marking guy so it is on hold until all the dust settles with the legal stuff. Meanwhile, I'll work like crazy on my second one and try to finish it this next year. Both books are in poem form and I have the 2nd poem nearly finished so all I have to do is take the photos and make the drawings. That's only like a bazzilion hours but I've learned a lot from doing the first one "bassacwards" so hopefully it will go faster! www.lisaoverly.com

Nice to see you around again. I know last time you were here you'd just finished your last book, glad you're started on another, and hope all goes successfully for you. You sound very busy.
Best wishes to you and yours, and have a Very Merry Christmas. |
