| | | Please say there is hope! I just came back with over a hundred pictures... and when I try to open them in photoshop I get "Invalid second SOI or SOFn marker is found" error. windows won't open them either. Bridge (which came bundled with PS 9) recongnizes the pictures just fine - it displayes the pic, its info and the such. Any ideas on what I can do to open these files??? Please?
thank you, Airdale |

| | | Re: Please say there is hope! If these were taken with a digital camera, try using the View / Import software that came with the camera to export the image (i.e. for a Nikon, use Nikon View). Rather than connecting the camera to your computer, try plugging the memory card into a card reader plugged into your USB port.
Good luck,

| | | Re: Please say there is hope! The camera is a canon and I no longer have the original software. I have always simply plugged the compact flash card into card reader and into the computer. That is what i did this time as well. Here was an oddity though - after copying the files to my harddrive, I restarted the computer (thinking that maybe the lack of opening is a bug that will go away at restart). i had not taken the card out of the computer. As windows was restarting it told me that it was fixing some errors.... it deleated all the images on the card! |

| | | Re: Please say there is hope! There is software to recover deleted pictures off you card.
This is but one.. http://www.cardrecovery.com/?rid=google&kid=cr2101
I would recommend that you do not take any more pictures until you have tried one of the recover softwares.
I used one years ago..it actually scared me. It found 160 images on a erased card.

| | | Re: Please say there is hope! Lasa - you are a life saver. Card recovery retrieved (and corrected the corruption) on about 70% of my pictures. I am a MUCH happier camper now. Thank you again. Airdale |

Here is another recovery program (and it's free)
I have heard good reports of this and would be interested to know how it goes http://www.recuva.com/download

| | | Re: Please say there is hope! Ken, I tested out http://www.recuva.com/download. It did not find a single file... but it would only look for a second before deciding it was not worth it. Maybe there is an issue with the specific one I downloaded, but so far card recovery is the winner
Little Fisher,
I looked at san disk's program but it did NOT come free with my sanDisk flash card (or at least I cannot figure out how to make it free!). Card recovery costs just as much ($40) but it recovered more of the photos I like best. Interstingly, SanDisk and card recover found DIFFERENT photos.
Thank you

Thanks for the feedback.
I was finding the same thing
It seems pretty good at Hard Drives but poor at CD's and memory cards.
Oh well! I guess you get what you pay for.
Here is another "demo" if you wish to try it. http://www.imagerecall.com/

I think these 'freebies' are more about files than pictures
