looking for MAC photoshop plugins or filters I have been searching for days for a MAC version of either some kind of kaleidoscope filter or plugin, OR a fractal one. (I did find a few mac fractal free share ware things. They all seem to want os9 which will run, but no clue how to get them to do anything.) I did find a few good tutorials for kaleidoscope without any plugin but wow! TIME! I read about a few for windows, and wonder if ANYONE knows of a mac one??? Thanks.

Re: looking for MAC photoshop plugins or filters I see your post is from years ago, maybe you know about GIMP now? It's a free app similar to photoshop and has a fractal filter. I'm looking for a kaleioscope plug in or something that will work on my MAC with Photoshop. If you found something would love to know about it. Thanks, B

Re: looking for MAC photoshop plugins or filters See here for a free option. Notice this app taps into OSX's built-in Core Image capability. Other apps can do that as well, such as Pixelmator, GraphicConverter and such. Note these are not plug-ins; PS doesn't seem to support access to Core Image.

Re: looking for MAC photoshop plugins or filters I knew about Gimp. Didn't know it had a fractal filter. I might have to download it and see. Interesting stuff there plugsnpixels. I didn't see any fractal stuff. Honestly though, I have an aging computer and in iffy copy of photoshop on it. For now I'm too afraid to add anything. It all works..... fingers crossed. Don't want to mess with it. (Need an upgrade bad.) Been too busy making crafts lately. Graphics have been on hold for awhile.

Re: looking for MAC photoshop plugins or filters I've DONE google searches. Every site I find either requires me to know math. (Trust me, I'm very math challenged. No CLUE how to come up with complex math formulas.) Or... they are in site things. Design it, sell it on their stuff. I want to do it IN PHOTOSHOP on MY computer. But it seems that's not something photoshop can do without the math end of things. So be it. I have other projects I can do. As for kaleidoscope, it's a long process but photoshop can do that very well. I have a whole page full of designs up for sale in my zazzle shop. Right here. http://www.zazzle.com/artmakersworld...60914856818698

Re: looking for MAC photoshop plugins or filters There may not be a PS option but there are plenty of standalone apps: http://www.macupdate.com/find/mac/Fractal (and probably even more for Windows).

Re: looking for MAC photoshop plugins or filters sigh, I looked at about six of the top rated ones on your list. ALL require an intel mac. Too old too old..... I'm on a geriatric G5 tower. Oh well. Maybe some day,

Re: looking for MAC photoshop plugins or filters Shoot, I've even begun seeing Lion-only apps! And even the first Intels are from what, 2005/6? If by any means you can move along, it would be great!

Re: looking for MAC photoshop plugins or filters Yea well.... I'd LOVE to "move along." Got a son in college and a bunch of unexpected medical bills right before he went in. New computers are not on my radar right now. Besides..... it's a mac. It just keeps working.

Re: looking for MAC photoshop plugins or filters True, and I hear you. However, if you really needed a newer Mac to run the latest software (including Windows on occasion), you can probably find a used Intel Mac for a decent price. Plus, your son probably qualifies for educational discounts on new items (not a huge amount, but some). While the older Macs of course still run, they are being left in the dust by progress in operating systems, software, security, parts, etc. I manage several Mac labs in higher ed and have seen everything since the beige PowerMac 8500s come and go. We currently use 27" i5 iMacs, a generation back now. Even the previous 20" Core 2 Duo iMacs are feeling slow...

Re: looking for MAC photoshop plugins or filters Slow is ok. I'm getting slower all the time. (grrrrr.) Macs just keep on working. A PC is pretty much crap after only 3 years. I shipped my old imac, (my first ever, G3 bluberry thing.) to a friend in CA and he is still using it. This after the PO klutzes DROPPED the box and busted some of the plastic casing. (they paid for that.) And yet it still works. Love um macks. Even cheap is no good if you don't have it. Last mac I got was a brand new ibook for my son. Now he wants an ipad. He's in college so he needs this more than me. As long as mine keeps on ticking away, (it can still run photoshop, freehand, yes I still use that. Two browsers, text editors, and do it all at the same time.) Why replace it? Sure I'm limited now with new stuff not working. So do I need new stuff that bad? Not really.

Re: looking for MAC photoshop plugins or filters If you're good, you're good! No need to upgrade. But I assume you don't have iDevices you're trying to sync... And no security updates are available for older OS's either, which is something to consider since you are online. The iPad is perfect for students, so hopefully he can get one.

Re: looking for MAC photoshop plugins or filters Nope. No idevices. Only owned a cell phone for about a year. And it's a stupid phone not smart. (lol. Remember making actual calls on a phone? That's all I do.) Not worried about security much either. To date, anything that can attack a mac has been pretty tame. Easy to avoid too. Na, my old puter still putts along. (pats the tower.... good mac.)

Re: looking for MAC photoshop plugins or filters filter forge has a built in kaleidoscope component. components are used to build the filters. i've made several filters that employ that component and others have as well. so, when you say kaleidoscope there can be a whole range of effects covered there. take a look at filter forge at http://www.filterforge.com . and look at some of the filters in the library there.
