Speech recognition and Photoshop

This is actually a very cool idea, using the OS speech recognition to switch tools in Photoshop. It could be used for any command, and is a lot easier than remembering all those shortcuts (and lets you keep your hands and eyes on your work, not your keyboard).

This demo uses Mac OS X, but Vista has this capability builtin as well.

Neat idea...

I'd most likely get rebuffed way too often by "Command 'Aw, [expletive]' is not currently available"!

Here's a link I had had posted some time ago. It has a Photoshop specific demo on the web page.

Re: Speech recognition and Photoshop

every once in a while, i test out this market to see how things have improved. so, i've bought a couple of these products over the years. the last one i bought was 'dragon naturally speaking' :

i dont recall the version i have, since i dont have it on this computer right now. i also remember having to 'train' the software. having just looked at dragon's web site, i noticed right away it said 'no training'. so, that would be a huge improvement.

i remember also that i could use it to do some commands on the computer without having to use the mouse or keyboard and i could do some commands within some sotware. would be interesting to test drive this again and see how comprehensive this has become.

and whereas their site does show some use of commands for some software, i really dont know about photoshop and other graphics programs. so, you'd have to explore this for yourself.
