Software Photoshop, Paintshop Pro, Painter, etc., and all their various plugins. Of course, you can also discuss all other programs, as well.

Question VISTA: Help with Program and Plugin Info?

This is for anyone with Vista experience. I am just trying to get an idea of where I might run into problems with my plugins and graphics programs. I understand that I may have to do some "workarounds" etc. What about plugins like Impressionist and Flaming Pear. CS3.

Any observations appreciated!!

I have not read about nor been e-mailed regarding problems with Impressionist with Photoshop CS3 under XP or Vista.

Don't know about any of the FP plugins. If you haven't yet, jump over to www.FlamingPear.com. By now I would expect they would have posted info on known problems.

I ran across this tidbit the other day (a workaround by someone having problems with a Nikon plugin under Vista), which I flagged for future reference. Looks like an "exclude list" type of function:

...Might be a good thing to know down the road.

Hope this helps.

Re: VISTA: Help with Program and Plugin Info?

Danny, thanks for your reply!

Just to give further info:

From Xero:
1. Make sure you have the very latest release of the plugins - the most recent release was back in April, and was specifically to deal with some of the Vista compatibility problems.

2. If you have problems, try disabling DEP (Data Execution Prevention) for Photoshop. If DEP is enabled, you'll have problems not only with my plugins, but with quite a few others too! Your can find out more about DEP here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/875352
And if you need a simple guide to disabling it, there's one here: http://www.tech-recipes.com/windows_tips566.html

Neat Image: Has updated version.

From DreamSuite: The Dreamy plugin should work..contact them with any problems.

Paint Engine: Has the Works with Vista Symbol on Web-site?

BuzzPro:
We are currently looking into this and testing our product range on Vista. However one of our
customers has kindly shared a workaround they have found to allow buZZ to work on the Vista
platform.
Open up the Control Panel, and type in user account into the search box.
You’ll see the link for "Turn User Account Control (UAC) on or off". Click it, Uncheck the box
and reboot your computer.
Open Photoshop and then open an image.
Open buZZ and when prompted put in the Authorisation Code.
DO NOT close buZZ, the image or Photoshop and while these are visible on the screen go
back to the Security Centre and re-start User Accounts Controls protection.
This will immediately ask you to Restart the computer, agree to this. But before Vista will do
this it asks you if you really want to Restart, you do, so click the Restart button again.
Vista will eventually close and start again and this time buZZ should open normally.

Nero 7: For owners of Nero 7 there is a free upgrade to Nero 7 "enhanced"

Hope this helps someone else!

Any further information appreciated.

Re: VISTA: Help with Program and Plugin Info?

Anyone using Paint Alchemy Plugin for Phhotoshop in Vista? I installed from full version and I still get a message that I am using a demo. (I input the SN's on install). Also, a message that CS3 cannot read the styles which will not let me close...at all. ctrl-alt-del.

thanks,
kristin

ps...everything else went well.
