Corel Painter Essentials 4....question(s)

Can anyone out there who uses PE4 tell me why when I am in auto paint mode and change the brush size and then press the start paint button the brush reverts to it's default size? Is there a way to avoid this. Am I, as usual, fouling something up?

I have not noticed this. I will try it and if I get the same result.
