DnB in Gimp

Not sure how many of you use Gimp...

but I keep reading about the 50% gray area wit the soft light layer. I can get the soft light layer... and I can fill it with gray... but does anyone else have a better way of doing that in Gimp???

Thanks

Re: DnB in Gimp

A very quick way to get neutral grey is to dup and set the top layer to Grain Extract and merge down. Works on all colors. Now, for the 50% Gray layer set to Soft Light, I believe this step is part of PWL work (Paint with Light) which I seldom do; leave it to those light experts (I'm a filter guy).

Re: DnB in Gimp

Hallo,
we can change BG or FG color when clicking on those small black and white rectangles.
If you click on the FG-color-rectangle, you can apply any color you
like (for example one color from twelve remembered by Gimp).
I have always one sample of 50%grey there in memory (introduced as html-color: 808080 ).
When needed - quick click on FG-color-rectangle, click on sample of 50%grey and then use the bucket-fill-tool to fill the layer or selected area of image.
I am a proud Linux and Gimp-user
