Question help with flares on photo using PSP9

I'm hoping that someone can help with this photo. It was taken on my wedding day by a friend and the sun was behind us. I have tried playing with it in Paint Shop Pro but I just can't seem to get it right and this was a very special moment for myself and my husband and i would like to have a copy of this without the flare effect across our faces.
Any ideas on the best way to do it or help would be appreciated.
I'm hoping i've uploaded the image right
Thanks in advance,
Lynn

Re: help with flares on photo

Hi Lynn,

welcome to RetouchPRO!!!

I had a go at your picture.

As you can see from my workflow, (click on it for larger size)

I mostly used Levels, Hue/Saturation, Selective Colors and blank Layers set to different blending modes... (here you can find a Tutorial on this ... just scroll down the page to the 'BLANK/EMPTY LAYERS SET TO....' part)

My final result:

Hope this helps ...

P.S. your image was uploaded perfectly .... and surely, working on a higher resolution image you'll get better results...

Hi Flora,
Thank you so much for what you did with that photo, I can't thank you enough for showing me that it is salvagable. Is there a similar tutorial for PSP9 like the one you sent me the link to for photoshop?
Once again,
Thankyou, thankyou
Cheers,
Lynn

Re: help with flares on photo

Hi again Lynn,

so glad you liked what I did with your picture .... and thank you very much for your kind feedback!!

Unfortunately I work exclusively with Photoshop so, I can't help you with Paint Shop Pro, but I'm going to move this Thread where you might get help with it.

Take care.

P.S. I've changed the Thread Title to simplify things..
