Unhappy Simply saving in painter x

Just started with painter x. just want to know more about saving work. I know how to use tracing paper and create a painting but want to save a painting half way through and come back again, say the next day. Can't seem to get back where I left off. Can anyone help

Welcome MTS...

I'm reading between the lines a bit here. Hope I hit the mark.
* Save the image you're working on using File > Save...
* Specify either .rtf or .psd format (read Painter help topics for info on these file formats).
* Close the original image

"Tomorrow" (or later)...
* Open the original image
* Open the "work in progress"
* File > Clone source
[choose the "original" image and you should be off to the races]

Does this help or make things worse?
