Change to 16bit when editing, will it help? Hi all, I am wondering if it is a good practice to change the image to 16 bit before editing, in the hope of preserving as many colors as possible.

Re: Change to 16bit when editing, will it help? yes! you can test it: do the same corrections (go extreme!) on 8 bit image and on (the same but) converted to 16 bit. flatten then convert 16 bit back to 8 bit and look at the levels. sinisa

Re: Change to 16bit when editing, will it help? Then convert it to CMYK and print it on anything. It will look identical to 8 bit. Looking at the levels is great for knowing the information is there, but what good does it do if you can't SEE it?
