Question Is TwistingPixels still in business?

I'm having no luck getting replies from TwistingPixels by email, their website is dated 2006 and it's been that long since I've heard from anybody there, even though they released some new plug-ins earlier this year.

I plan to call them next week (I just Googled their phone number), but in the meantime, does anybody know anything about this?

Re: Is TwistingPixels still in business?

Yes, thanks, I've seen their website (dated 2006), that's not the problem. But try emailing every address on the Contact page and see what happens (!). At this point they're pulling a Flaming Pear on me...

Re: Is TwistingPixels still in business?

I just bought (couple of weeks ago) ArtStudio Pro Essentials (Wizard Edition) and the Pixel Creation Bundle for very cheap on eBay UK.

Re: Is TwistingPixels still in business?

But that purchase was not through Twisting Pixels, right? At the moment their website loads only a background color; the other pages are accessible if you know the direct addresses and downloads still work.

But TP dropped its advertising from a certain magazine they were in earlier this year. If you do a WhoIs search on their domain and Google the address that comes up--assuming the listing is up to date and they are still there--you'll find some local newspaper results where someone at that address had a run-in with the law (again, this may be a previous tenant or someone unrelated, etc.).

So it's all adding up to be not good news for TP.

Re: Is TwistingPixels still in business?

What I meant to say is that you can find some of their stuff on eBay UK.

And well if they go out of business it is not surprising because I guess not many people are interested buying the stuff.

If it wasn't for the very low price, I would not have bought them really.

A couple more toys I will hardly ever use.

Re: Is TwistingPixels still in business?

Right, but who is selling on eBay UK? Private individuals transferring their licenses, or resellers?

Re: Is TwistingPixels still in business?

I bought both from apparently private individuals reselling their Serif editions. I was the only bidder on both auctions. I got both for 99p I think. The Pixel Creation Bundle is the exact same as the one from Twisting Pixel directly (or I think so as I haven't actually installed it but simply activated the demo of it I had installed with the serials that were printed on the CD case) and Serif was retailing that one for Ģ129 I think whereas the other is a wizard version only.

So there isn't an abundant supply of them there but they crop up from time to time and for rather cheap usually.

Re: Is TwistingPixels still in business?

Hi,

The full range of TwistingPixels products are available from http://www.virtualpainter5.com at the same prices as the TwistingPixels webstore.

I've been having the same problems as you and stumbled across the VirtualPainter5 website quite by accident. I'd noticed your forum thread during an earlier Google expedition trying to find these elusive plugins so I thought I'd better come back and tell you.

All the best. Bob

Re: Is TwistingPixels still in business?

Thanks Bob! They seem to be a third-party reseller. Perhaps they have boxed copies on hand, but I wonder about further support if the original developer has disappeared?

Phone number is disconnected. Even Google can't find the people who worked there...

Re: Is TwistingPixels still in business?

Thanks Sivana, though I suspect this is not them. Twisting Pixels' current domain is registered through 2009, and they have ad ad in the latest Photoshop User magazine (for some reason) with the current URL.

It's just weird. I can't find any current references to their personnel via Google, which is also weird. It's like they just disappeared.

Re: Is TwistingPixels still in business?

In the moment the domaine went to Amazone :-(
Iīm really sure it was the same business who has changed into an other business with an other software to sell. Perhaps I was looking for the owner at "Who is" internic and than I was searching for the person. I had a trial and was willing to buy when I saw the shop is down. Itīs a pitty

Re: Is TwistingPixels still in business?

Please see what you can do to recall your findings; they would be interesting to see.

But again, it makes no sense for them to do this, after all the promotion they did under the "Twisting Pixels" name. But of course it is possible the company split or whatever and one of the people involved is carrying on, but I've heard nothing of this--and I try to stay informed about plug-ins ;-).

Re: Is TwistingPixels still in business?

I found it now!!
You can get Twisting Pixels software at a company called "Nobox"now.
In the german magazine "CT special, Digital photography" I found it. There is also a DVD included with a free fullversion of ArtStudioPro 1.14.
If you have it as orginal trial you can try to register it for free at http://registrieren.nobox.de/20080930.php But I donīt know how long, but the magazine is still a new one of this month. Nobox donīt offer trial versions.

Re: Is TwistingPixels still in business?

Interesting! I wonder if the Twisting Pixels software still being sold is overstock/leftovers? Or perhaps the German mag had some sort of licensing agreement that's still valid.

Re: Is TwistingPixels still in business?

In the magazine is written that it was orginally from Twisting Pixels. But TwistingPixels isnīt in business anymore.
It seems they have sold their programmes to Nobox.

Perhaps, so I assume these are old, no longer updated versions being offered.

Hey,

This is the new message found at http://www.twistingpixels.com

twistingpixels.com is an expired domain.
If this is your domain, you still can renew it in your member control panel

So it looks like the company is kaput.

Hopefully Twisting Pixels sold the products to someone else.

I bought the Twisting Pixels Bundle from Serif Software.

GT.

Re: Is TwistingPixels still in business?

I tried the nobox connection for the registration key. It didn't work and ever since I have been inundated with junk email, including the type offering huge amounts of money in return for my bank details !!!
Not recommended.

You can get their Artstudio by http://nobox.de/twistingpixels-pixelcreationsuite.htm only.
I think the company has stopped work.

Well, maybe TwistingPixels sold their remaining inventory to the German store for liquidation? I'd confirm first before sending money...

Re: Is TwistingPixels still in business?

Well it's still for sale.
https://www.cleverbridge.com/222/?sc...on=VE2-MZR-TRQ
I don't know if they have the rights to it or are just selling out what's left in stock.
I am surprised that a company like Corel, Adobe, MetaTools, AlienSkin. didn't want to purchase the comapny to add their products to those companies exsisting line. VirtualPianter5.com still list the products but doesn't have a buy link.

It's a shame.

Re: Is TwistingPixels still in business?

Gerald, Do you know if that link is still active? I tried it but it didn't give me any information on Twisting Pixels. I had the software installed on a Gateway system; but, there was a hard drive problem and I couldn't get it reinstalled. I couldn't find the original downloaded file. BTW-do you have the filename for the downloaded file for their Pixel Pack? Do you have any other info on installing the program that might be of help.

Thanks, Mike
