| Simple picture repair tool Hello, my name is Martin, I am a software developer from germany. Last year I made a little tool that can correct scratches from pictures automaticly. I just wantet to ask if i should publish this tool (for free) or if there are enough tools that can do that task. It is a simple commandline-tool that works on TIFF-files. I can make versions for Windows, Mac OS/X, Linux and Irix. Best regards, Martin Here is an example (before/after). As you can see, the black lines seem to be totally removed in the second picture. |

| Re: Simple picture repair tool Hi. It's a small picture, but it seems to leave a short streak where the removed "scratch" goes from a dark section in the image, to a ligher section. I'd be happy to test/beta test it. |

| Re: Simple picture repair tool windows here, too. would love to see this with a gui on it. also, i could steer you to a couple other projects like this that are needed in the community, like, for instance, a revised and improved polaroid dust and scratch remover. that's a good program, but polaroid doesnt seem interested in doing anything else with it and it has a number of limits to it currently. i'm sure other members could suggest programs and needs also. |

| Re: Simple picture repair tool Hi, Quote:
result is not perfect. A tool like this cannot do miracles and cannot compete with a hand-crafted refurbishing. This tool simply makes a bilinear interpolation between the pixels near the scratches. That means, the scratches must have "hard" edges in order to make the algorithm work. In the real world, scratches never have hard pixel edges, so you must mark the scratches with the graphics program of your choice and then let the tool do his job. Quote:
(and tell me your operation system please). Best regards, Martin P.S. I started to create this tool to repair elevation data from the "Shuttle Radar Topography Mission" (SRTM), but it seem to work also good on photos (with the little drawback of the hard pixels). |

| Re: Simple picture repair tool Martin, I could also see the application used for cleaning up gray-scale imagery (which would have hard edges), such as: faxes, computerized tomography, seismic tomography, etc. Best of luck with it ! |
