photoshop is a bargain compared to what prepress shops used to pay for software from scitex and crosfield...

i have a .. erm.. a friend who got CS2 from another friend...
he wants to upgrade to CS3 but he's worried that adobe might send a missile through his monitor when he tries to do that because he didn't buy the software from them originally.

has anyone done this? any advice?
