Portrait Sharpening Action

I wrote a portrait sharpening action yesterday for Photoshop CS3/CS4. It uses Smart Filters to combine two types of sharpening and skin softening in a single layer. That way it sharpens hair, eyes, etc. but does not sharpen pores, skin blemishes, etc.

The portrait sharpener seems to be a hit. More than 400 downloads in the last 36 hours.

I wrote a creative sharpener this morning that's targeted for landscapes. This one has three USM sharpening effects. USM for light and dark pixels with the dark pixels getting more aggressive settings followed by a round of local contrast enhancement (LCE) to reduce haze and give your landscapes some extra POP.

Again, this one is for CS3/CS4. It does all of its work on a single Smart Filters layer.

i'd comment on using these, but i havent yet. i just like to collect freebies. i never use them; i just collect them ok, that's a bit of an exaggeration. i just dont happen to use cs3 that much. i have it; i just dont use it that much.

Super. I will be working on refining the settings for both the Landscape sharpener and the portrait sharpener. Probably less aggressive for the landscape sharpener and slightly more aggressive for the output sharpener. We'll see after more testing. Look for updates tonight or towmorrow.
