What you seem to be objecting to in the Photoshop Twirl filter is the aliased edges. To make the edges anti-aliased, is actually very easy and requires a small Gaussian blur followed by a levels adjustment.

Re: Looking for the best "Twirl" solution.

Trust me Mark, I've tried a million different things to try to get them smooth WITHOUT effecting the rest of the image. The problem is that most of the pieces on the site have up to 40 steps, only some of which are done with KPT's twirl. If I had to do a blur and levels adjustment every time I put some spin on one, it would be a mess.

Point being that the use of twirl is only part of the process, but an obviously important part. It was nice to be able to apply it as little or as much as I wanted to without having to fix it every time. :-)

Again... Thanks everyone.

If anyone has the Goo part of KPT and can do a quick experiment for me, that would be the best.

"WITHOUT effecting the rest of the image" - Edge detection and masking

"If I had to do a blur and levels adjustment every time I put some spin on one, it would be a mess." - Actions
