Just incase anyone wants the answer without having to search the forum. Save as a PNG.

Re: Text on Transparent background?

Not sure about jpeg2000 (browsers don't support it probably anyway), but jpegs do not support transparent text at all. Most browsers support PNG transparancies, but I've seen issues with that as well. The problem with GIFs (also has transparent backgrounds) is color limitations and stairstepping issues if not done right.

jpeg2000 supports transparency, but the world seems to be happy with standard jpeg, so I'll stay away from it. IE6 and its problems with transparent .pngs are history.
