Re: Review of Alien Skin Bokeh Plug-In

Any interest in a detailed PDF tutorial to be followed by a video tutorial that described how to use the Photoshop Lens Blur filter together with a Depth Map and the gradient tool for a nature faux-bokeh effect?

Cheers,

Mitch

Great Read and very helpful!! I had tried onOne's Focal Point and found the user interface reasonably friendly and good looking but could go no further than PS3 alone.

Have you tried Focal Point? If you have, would enjoy reading about your thoughts on it.

Thanks again for the great tutorial! Much Appreciated!!!

Re: Review of Alien Skin Bokeh Plug-In

im always on the lookout and trial'ling many DOF plugins for ps. this is a nice one although more tailored for video production they do have it for ps.

http://www.dofpro.com/photogallery.htm

the best part is that you can create DOF greyscale maps/masks to control exactly what items are placed in the DOF scale, as seen in the demo photos, and is hard to find this useful feature in the other plugins.
the worst part is that even with the new just-released-this-month version 4.0, you cant just create a greyscale mask and use it, you have to first save it as a separate greyscale file, then manually load it into the plugin. why this has to be done as extra steps i dont know, it should just load a mask already in your image being worked on.

but its definitely worth trying a demo, then if its handy, email and ask him to please, in his next revision, stop having the wasted steps of saving the dof mask as another file then loading it into the plugin.

I'll have to take a look at it Zeusman. I was intending a comaprison of different prioducts for extending and reducing DOF: Bokeh, Helicon Filter, etc.

Cheers,

Mitch
