Action ignores the save to folder during batch

I created a simple action to downsize my images to 800 width, then save for web, then I close them.

When I try to batch process the images, if I created the action in one folder, and I attempt to run it on pictures in a different folder, when I choose the destination folder in the batch dialog window, it creates them in the first folder. Very annoying!

Mac OSX, Photoshop/Bridge CS3

Any thoughts?

Yeah, I've always found actions and saving to be a bit problematic.

I simply aim my action's save at a temporary folder called "Pics land here" or whatever, then manually move all of the files to the desired folder when the batch has finished. One extra step, but much fewer headaches.

Ya I have never had this problem before with actions though. I will take your advice as that is the easiest/quickest way without banging my head on the keyboard anymore. Thanks!

If one records Save for Web in an action invoked by the Batch command, processed files are saved in the folder recorded in the SFW command, regardless of any Destination or File Naming settings all of which are flat out ignored.

If one records Save as... the Destination folder specified is where Batch will save the processes images as long as (x) Override action 'save as' commands is 'on'.

I don't know why it works this way, but it does.

Yes at some point they changed this, and its now quite difficult to understand. Override action 'save as' commands and 'Open' can be either checked or unchecked, when creating droplets or batch processes - you have to suck it and see.
