Re: Topaz Labs does it again! New product coming

I've had this happen on both weak wireless and dialup, but I sucked it down in seconds from the office.

Do you want me to email it to you (5mb)?

Thanks Mike for the file. I've only been playing with the plugin for a short time but it looks like Topaz has got a real winner with this program. Very cool.

You're welcome Joe! I too can't believe how many things Topaz has to offer.

BTW, I just revised my beta download links – new betas for Mac (b3) and Windows (b4) are out.

Beta 4 is now available (These boys move fast!!)
It's faster and without the bug which was apparent in Beta 2.
You can get it from the link on the Flickr Topaz group here

Beta 5 for Mac is just out, solving both a multiprocessor crash issue and related compatbility issues when using other developers' plug-ins in the same session. Also, it seems a lot faster!

Re: Topaz Labs does it again! New product coming

All of a sudden all of my Topaz filters are causing my CS4 to crash when I try to use. Any suggestions?

skydog, have you been installing/uninstalling the various betas? What are your system specs?

On the Mac side Detail beta5 no longer crashes PS, even when used along with other developers' products. Topaz has included in that beta their own fix for a problem once thought to be related to Intel's OpenMP libraries. As of minutes ago, a new beta of Adjust is available with this same fix, which I am about to test.

Re: Topaz Labs does it again! New product coming

Actually I was about to install this first beta for this particular program, only to find my existing topaz plugs were crashing. The only thing I have done was a recent "purge" when I was running out of Ram working on a picture. Also my hard drive is down to 6 GB. I have CS3 still on my computer and it works fine with Topaz. Its just my CS4 that crashes everytime I open a Topaz filter.

PC or Mac? 6 gigs is pretty tight either way (little room for virtual memory or swap files).

Might as well try the beta; you can always reinstall your original plug-ins afterwards.

Can you put a second drive in, and/or get an external drive? I've done both, plus offload stuff onto data DVDs.

Alright, Topaz Detail is out! You can get it as a standalone (look here for a discount) or as part of the Topaz Suite (now a six-plug-in bundle).

Detail is among the Topaz plug-ins featured in the new issue #15 of my free ezine, where I offer a tutorial on using multiple developers' plug-ins to create digital art.
