CS3 is not supported in Snow Leopard

Thats a typical alarmist nonsense article. See the more recent link that Doug provided, thats John Nack, Photoshop product manage so he should know.

I would wait before upgrading though- they have apparently rewritten the whole front end of the OS, to "cocoa" - so its likely to cause a few complications I would think, but mainly with other apps, not Photoshop. Let others be the guinea pigs that's always been my policy.

The appleinsider article is just saying that they haven't completely tested it. and that's confirmed by the other article as well, neither should they waste resources to test old software... apparently it just works anyway so it doesn't even matter.

It's also very convenient for adobe to say "oh we don't support it under snow leopard so i guess you'll have to buy an upgrade.."

That's about as definite as its likely to get.

"Not supported" actually only means that when push comes to shove, they, and their "support" people, can't be held responsible for people still using CS3 and trying to upgrade to a NEW mac OS.

yep i read it, and i said they did not test it as much as they did CS4

As I say, we have reason to expect that all meaningful issues of running Photoshop CS3 under Snow Leopard have been resolved. However, because we have not done the level of testing that true certification demands, we need to stand by our statement that we don't officially support CS3 on Snow Leopard.

but yeah you're right, all this really means you can go and get them to help you out if something was to go wrong...
