Free Dust and Scratches removal plug-in for A.P.S.

Well. What can you say about another D&S plug-in. It's as exciting as meeting Ronald at the Golden Arches and buying a Happy Meal and seeing what the toy is.

Dust and Scratches Removal plug-in

This action was used to create the image in this Photo-Art forum thread. It was inspired by the results I got on Manipulation Challenge #18, which happens to be a Tiger hence the name of this action.

It utilizes various blend modes, the Photocopy and Gaussian Blur filters, plus a copy of the original image converted to bitmap mode created in and copied from a separate image.

The result is reminiscent of a combination of Threshold, Posterization, Stamp and Photocopy all rolled into one. To me what makes the results of this action unique (and worthy of preserving in an action) is the considerably higher level of detail achieved over plain ol' Threshold and/or Stamp, while retaining the stark contrast of these effects.

This is an action I created from a tutoral I had done. It took alot of tweeking to get it to work right but here it is. I thought it would be useful in that it's a pretty realistic eye and with some images I figured it might be a nice replacement for a missing eye.

The action keeps the layers in tact so you will have the ability to access the hue saturation layer to change the eye color. Hope you like it. I've never made an action of this magnitude before.

This action converts a color image to grayscale and then lets the "artist" selectively restore color onto a separate layer via an image snapshot and History brush.

This action is non-destructive. A duplicate is taken of the original image; all work is done on the copy.

This was developed/tested under PS 5.5. It "should" work OK under PS 6 and 7 as well.

Here's an example of what can be done without a great deal of difficulty.

This action was inspired by Howie Mudge.

Based on a user selection, the action:
* Lightens or darkens the frame area
* Blurs the frame area
* Applies a stroke at the frame / image boundary

A considerable amount of flexibility is built-in for adjusting frame characteristics and stroke color.
