and note at the bottom of the article:

It's a hell of a preview for Photoshop CS5, which comes out April 12.
the content aware portion of CS5 is going to change quite a few workflows. i've been looking forward to this since Siggraph started talking about this back in 2007. i've also posted a short notice in the restoration forum about this, since i'm anticipating content aware making life easier for restorers. i'm thinking retouchers will also benefit as will photographers and even photo artists.

if you look at a number of different sites with different content aware videos you'll begin to understand some of the possible applications. folks, this IS going to change things

Content Aware seems to be kind of like the healing brush on steroids. Extremely useful in some situations but still only one tool in the toolbox. There still will be no substitute for the numerous (dare I say artistic?) judgements made during the course of a retouch/restoration project. Our jobs will be safe for quite some time I think.

Only a tool, but don't we all need them? And the better the tools, the better/faster/more efficient the work.

Re: Photoshop CS5 launch date announced

There are a lot of new tools that will help everyone I believe no matter what you do. Sorry I can't say more till after Apr 12th, but Adobe is letting us post some of our test from CS5. The image of the horse was done with old and new tools - which ever worked best for the situation. These images were done with CS5.

Re: Photoshop CS5 launch date announced

I am involved with the Photoshop Prerelease Program and now have the OK to show what I've been up to. I can't provide specific details of CS5 features, but needless to say, I've been painting with it.

I've put together a quick video demonstrating the key steps of interpreting a photograph into a finished painting using Adobe® Photoshop® CS5. My goal here is to take Photoshop beyond simple so-called smudge painting and utilize it as a full-blown painting medium. The photograph is simply an guide underpainting upon which I apply my own expressive embellishments.
